Newly Appointed Strategic Leaders Programme Being newly appointed into a strategic role brings new challenges and issues. The implications of the decisions made, and actions taken, by a leader are far-reaching, impacting on a wider section of staff and society. The Newly Appointed Strategic Leaders Programme is designed to support leaders through this transition over the first 18 months, and to prepare them for extraordinary delivery in their new strategic role. Participants come from all fields. Examples of the roles participants occupy at this level could include: - Board member of FTSE 100 company
- Major General, Rear Admiral or Air Vice Marshal from the Armed Forces
- Chief Constable
- University Vice-Chancellor
- Chief Executive of a large charity, or small and medium enterprise
- Bishop or equivalent in other faith groups
There are two such programmes a year with 18 places available. Demand is high and our selection process is rigorous. Ensuring a consistently high calibre of participants is vital to the success of the programme. The programme enables participants to consider the implications of a move into strategic leadership. It focuses on the increasingly complex problems, opportunities and challenges they now face, the changing environment they work in, and the need to build trust and respect, to engage and inspire. Through stimulating group discussions, and by sharing personal experiences, participants leave with a greater awareness of their strengths to deliver their new role, areas they need to work on, and greater confidence to tackle the challenges ahead. The group meets again six months later for the second part of the programme. They review their progress since the programme and talk through new challenges, using one another as a support network to discuss possible ways forward. All speakers and facilitators generously give their time and expertise. However organisations are asked to contribute towards costs. Not-for-profit organisations and faith groups will be considered for a bursary.
