Master of the Royal Household, Buckingham Palace
Air Vice-Marshal David Walker has been Master of the Royal Household since January 2005. He is responsible for all aspects of The Queen’s entertaining, both official and private, in the 3 occupied Palaces (Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse), the private residences, and for overseas visits. He joined the Royal Air Force in 1974 and his career has been predominantly in the personnel and training area. Other appointments have included Equerry to Her Majesty The Queen, secondment to the Diplomatic Service in South Africa, and Director of Public Relations (RAF).

Prior to taking up his post in the Royal Household, Air Vice-Marshal Walker commanded the RAF Training Group which controls 7 major training units, 9000 personnel and over 300 aircraft. He was responsible for flying training for all three Armed Services, and ground training for the Royal Air Force.

Married to Jane who is a specialist nurse, their home is in the Cotswolds. Air Vice-Marshal Walker’s interests include military biographies, classic cars, antiques and walking. He is President of the Craft Guild of Chefs, and a Vice-President of the Royal International Air Tattoo.
