ArrowLeadership Development Consultation
The Leadership Development Consultation is aimed at those who hold the strategic responsibility for developing leaders. Aims The event will bring together leaders from every sector of society, who have similar responsibilities for driving forward the leadership development agenda. The Trust has identified that there are few occasions for the leaders in this field to come together and learn from one another by discussing such challenges in an open, yet confidential environment, as they rarely take time to invest in their own personal development. The objectives of the event are to provide:
  • Opportunities to debate the key issues facing leadership development professionals from a range of different perspectives
  • New insights into what different leadership development initiatives are most effective in different situations
  • Exploration of different strategies and practices of leadership development through sharing and learning from each other
  • A strong network of peers with whom to discuss challenges that arise in the future
  • Time to reflect on individual leadership experiences.
Consultation format During the two days participants have the opportunity to take a step back, to reflect on their personal experiences and to hear from others. The format is built around discussion and debate with two keynote speakers, time in syndicate groups discussing the issues (each with a skilled facilitator), sharing experiences and personal insights, and networking. Examples of issues to be discussed: 1. Faced with the current backdrop of mistrust in the economic and political fabric of society, how do we:
  • Develop leaders to rebuild trust in leadership
  • Focus on a long term perspective whilst responding to short term needs
  • Invest in building the leadership team whilst focusing on the importance of ethics and integrity
  • Reconcile personal and corporate values
2. How to build greater leadership capacity in an uncertain future. The current climate should challenge us to review what leaders need in order to build leadership capacity:
  • How do we think this might have changed or will change
  • Should there be a greater focus on governance and board development
  • How can we build a culture of accountability and responsibility as opposed to blame
  • Can we build a leadership still open to taking risks.
