 Robin Evans Chief Executive, British Waterways Robin Evans has been Chief Executive of British Waterways since December 2002. He was previously Commercial Director for three years.
British Waterways is a public corporation 40% funded by governments and 60% from its own revenues. It owns and manages 2,000 miles of inland waterways, has a turnover of over £200m, a staff of 1800 and a property portfolio of £500m.
Robin spent the early part of his career as a Land Agent for the National Trust in the Thames and Chiltern Region.
In 1986 he was appointed Chief Executive of The Landmark Trust. The Landmark Trust is a registered charity that restores small buildings of historic or architectural importance and then gives them a new life as holiday lettings.
In 1995 became a Director of Historic Royal Palaces who manage the 5 unoccupied Royal Palaces in London including The Tower of London and Hampton Court. He undertook various roles including Commercial Director and ultimately became Palaces Director responsible for all Palaces with the exception of the Tower of London.
He is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Companion of the Chartered Institute of Management.
He is married with 3 grown up children and lives in Buckinghamshire.
